Developing Your Proposal

Private foundations are seeking clear, concise and compelling proposals that are fully responsive to their guidelines. Foundation Relations provides a unique suite of services that complements essential supports provided by your sponsored program officer and unit‐based grants team. We will:

  • Review draft letters of inquiry and proposal narratives, offering suggested edits from the perspectives of lay reviewer, professional grant writer and copyeditor
  • Coordinate required institutional letters of support and secure required signatures from institutional leadership on proposals
  • Provide required institutional support documents as needed, including 501(c)(3) letter, audited financial statements, institutional budgets, Board of Directors/Trustees lists, IRS 990 form, IRS W-9 Form and institutional fundraising history data/forms
  • Coordinate and support submission of proposals to private foundations as may be required (i.e., they require a 501(c)(3) or coordination through the development office)

Foundation Relations manages relationships with over 300 private foundations and we have existing accounts and login credentials for many of these funders’ online grants portals. Please allow us to partner with you in your approach as we seek to help coordinate and enhance each of these funder’s engagement experience with Ohio State’s vast research community.
